Services for Writers

Looking for an experienced, honest and empathetic editor to make your book shine? You might be self-publishing, working towards securing a publishing deal or perhaps you've already signed a contract and need further support. I offer premium editorial expertise to help your book become the strongest version of itself.

If you're interested in working together, please apply by filling in an Author Enquiry Form. If you're not sure which service you need, that's absolutely fine. We'll figure it out together.

Limited slots available for 2026.

Please note I do not provide copy editing or proof reading services.

I like working on memoir and autobiography, narrative non-fiction, nature, spirituality, psychology, lifestyle, self-development, health and wellbeing, spirituality, true crime, humour and journals. While my background is non-fiction, I'm open to working on select literary and book club fiction. I'm probably not the best editor for complex illustrated, cookery, history, politics, science or economics projects.

1

Consultancy and coaching

Regular or one-off sessions to shape your ideas, untangle knotty editorial problems and plan your route to publication. A great option if you have a work in progress or can't commit to the cost of more involved editorial work. Or perhaps you have a specific issue you'd like to discuss. Sessions are online or in person in Hove, East Sussex.

2

Editorial assessment

A diagnostic read of your manuscript with a written report on big picture – structure, argument or narrative arc, pacing, positioning and voice, plus commercial analysis. The report will evaluate your book's strengths and weaknesses, as well as where it sits in the market, with actionable insight to help you figure out your next steps. This report is best for authors with a full manuscript who would like an honest appraisal of their work or are planning their next round of revisions. Includes a 30-minute online call.

3

Developmental editing

Hands-on editing to strengthen your manuscript. Every book is different and we'll meet before starting work to discuss the process. I start with the big picture – argument or narrative, chapter order and length, pacing and voice – as well as improving clarity, flow, depth and nuance. All while preserving your voice. You'll receive an editorial report, a marked-up manuscript and a one-hour follow-up call.

4

Proposal development and query letter review

I'll help you shape your idea, find your hook and put together a proposal that shows agents and publishers exactly why your book works and why you're the person to write it – or I can write it alongside you.

5

Co-writing and ghostwriting

If you would like a helping hand putting words to the page, I can work closely with you to write your book. I capture your voice and ideas, while bringing the skill and experience of professional editor.

6

Bespoke packages

Need a bit of everything? I can put together a package that combines any of these services around your book and your timeline.
